Rostock

On Germany's northern shore, the city of Rostock is located on both sides of the Warnow River. It is well-known for the 1419-founded Rostock University. Alpine gardens and an arboretum are features of Rostock Botanical Garden. ­ The Gothic St. Mary's Church in the historic district houses an astronomical clock from the fifteenth century. The town hall, the Rathaus, in the nearby cobblestone Neuer Markt neighborhood, combines Gothic and Baroque architectural elements.
