Amman

Jordan's capital city is a modern place with a lot of historic ruins. The 8th-century Umayyad Palace complex, notable for its imposing dome, and the pillars of the Roman Temple of Hercules are both part of the historic Citadel perched atop Jabal al-Qala'a hill.
